Clinical Bio

Hi! I'm Tabitha Jones. I am a clinical social worker supervisor licensed to practice in Texas. I graduated in 2017 with my Master's in Social from the University of California and received my clinical license in 2020. I have experience working in a wide variety of fields including employee assistance programs, inpatient substance abuse treatment centers, hospital settings, and individual counseling in a private practice setting. I provide individual therapy services for individuals ages 13+ via telehealth with Get Out of Your Head Therapy. I work with a wide variety of diagnoses but my primary focus is on individuals diagnosed with or suspected to have ADHD and/or Autism Spectrum disorders. I use an eclectic approach including Trauma Model Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, talk therapy, executive functioning skills building, and EMDR.  

What I Really Want You to Know

I believe that everyone gets to decide what kind of life that they want to live. We cannot always decide the things that happen to us, but we can decide to heal. I strive to meet clients where they are at and to go at the pace they are ready for. We do not live in a vacuum, and so I approach therapy through a biopsychosocial-spiritual lens which means that your health, the way you view the world, your social circumstances, and spirituality (including not being spiritual) all make up who you are and must be taken into account during the therapy process. Everyone comes to therapy with their own unique circumstances, and I do my best to honor those experiences when coming up with a treatment plan. I believe that coming to therapy is one of the most important decisions in your life, and I am honored to be a part of that process.   

How I Weave Trauma Model Therapy Into My Practice

Trauma Model Therapy provides a framework to guide my work with clients who have experienced trauma. It provides a narrative to understand why our brains do what they do when we experience trauma. My favorite tools I like to use are the locus of control shift, recognizing the problem is not the problem, and helping clients understand that their reactions are protections and they are not "bad". I find Trauma Model Therapy particularly helpful in EMDR when clients are feeling stuck or prepping for a target.
