Trauma Model Therapy
Level 1 Clinician

Clinical Bio

I first qualified in 1994 in Therapeutic Groupwork, piloting the first sex offender treatment programs in Scotland, UK, for young people convicted of serious offences. This work to reduce victimisation led me to build upon my psychology degree and commence a four-year training to become accredited in the United Kingdom as a Psychotherapist. I was fully qualified in 1998 and continued my professional development to become also a registered Child Psychotherapist, which is a separate qualification.

Since that time, I have focused on my ongoing growth and professional development to ensure I continually enhance my skills and knowledge in this field, including training in numerous trauma-responsive approaches to incorporate into my work with TMT, such as EMDR, Hypnosis (BASCH registered), TF-CBT, etc.

I have sought to expand knowledge around the effective treatment of Complex Trauma and Dissociation through being a member of ISSTD since 2002 (advanced certificate in treatment of complex trauma and dissociation completed). As a member of the faculty, I was awarded Fellow status by this learned society.

I have offered a clinic for those with Complex Trauma and Dissociation (Chage for Good Ltd) in Glasgow, Scotland, since 2004.

My weekly primary task is to support two amazing teams of mental health professionals dedicated to supporting adults, children and young people, Midhurst Therapeutic Clinical Services and Five Rivers Child Care.

Since 2013, I have run a research group that seeks to understand and develop thinking on attachment, trauma, and dissociation, and aims to ensure as many of these publications are available and accessible as possible.

How I give something back to society is through being a director of two charities: The Bowlby Centre in London (the home of attachment-based, relationally based psychoanalytic training in the UK) and The Consortium of Therapeutic Communities.

In my spare time, I spend time in the outdoors exploring the wondrous Scottish Countryside, which helps to keep my feet firmly on the ground.

What I Really Want You to Know

Taking the first step toward therapy, especially when carrying the weight of trauma, is an extraordinary act of courage. If you are feeling hesitant, guarded, or uncertain right now, please know that every piece of that feeling makes complete sense.

I don't stand above you as an expert who is here to "fix" you; I will work with you to support you to ‘get to where you would like to reach’. Sometimes this isn’t clear at the start, but we will make sure, together, that it becomes clearer over time.

The coping patterns and survival strategies you carry aren't personal flaws; they were brilliant tools your mind and body created to keep you safe when you needed it most.

Our work together is a true partnership. At a pace defined to ensure we can move forward while also allowing us to safely examine those old survival strategies. My aim is to support you to reclaim your story: Healing isn't about erasing the past; it's about stripping it of its power to dictate your present.

You don't have to carry this alone, nor do you have to stay stuck in survival mode. Real, lasting relief is possible, and a life grounded in peace and genuine choice is waiting. When you are ready, I am honored to walk beside you.

How I Weave Trauma Model Therapy Into My Practice

I have known of Dr. Colin Ross’s work for many years, and when I became aware of TMT, I thought this was for me, as it fits completely with how I work as a relationally based psychotherapeutic practitioner. Despite being trained in multiple approaches to treatment, TMT offers a ‘framework’ that can be clearly and concisely harnessed for ‘good’ and connects seamlessly to my previous knowledge of supporting those with Dissociative Disorders.
